Setup guide
Connect Mailchimp
Mailchimp connects through OAuth 2.0. You authorize Modiva from Mailchimp's own login and consent screen — Modiva then manages your audiences and members, adds and updates tags, creates, sends and schedules campaigns, and reads performance reports through one unified API and MCP server. Mailchimp issues a long-lived token and Modiva discovers your account's data center automatically, so once connected your account stays connected until you disconnect.
Before you start
- A Mailchimp account (any plan, including Free).
- Access to the Mailchimp account you want to connect.
Step-by-step setup
- 1
Sign in to Modiva
Log in at modiva.ai and open the Dashboard. You need a Modiva account before you can connect any platform — creating one takes a minute and no credit card is required for the free tier.
- 2
Open Connections → New connection
In the left sidebar choose Connections, then click New connection. You'll see the full catalogue of platforms grouped by category (Social, Ads, CRM, E-commerce, Marketing, Creative, Productivity and Payments).
- 3
Select Mailchimp and authorize
Click the Mailchimp card. Modiva redirects you to Mailchimp's official login and consent screen — sign in and approve access. Your password is entered on Mailchimp, never on Modiva.
- 4
You're connected
Mailchimp sends you back to Modiva and the connection appears with a green Connected status. Modiva resolves your account's data center automatically, so there's nothing else to configure. From here it's available to every MCP key and API call in your workspace.
What Modiva can access
Mailchimp shows the access on its consent screen before you approve. Modiva manages your audiences and campaigns and reads your reports. You can revoke access any time from Mailchimp’s connected-apps settings or by disconnecting in Modiva.
- Read and write audiences (lists) and their members
- Add and update member tags
- Create, send and schedule campaigns
- Read campaign performance reports
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Does Mailchimp connect with OAuth or an API key?
With OAuth 2.0. You authorize Modiva on Mailchimp's own consent screen; Modiva only receives a scoped token, which is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Your password is never entered on Modiva.
Which Mailchimp account gets connected?
The account you sign into when you approve the consent screen. Mailchimp OAuth grants access to a single account; to connect another, sign into it before authorizing or add a second connection.
Do I need a paid Mailchimp plan?
No. Managing audiences and members and creating campaigns works on Mailchimp's Free plan. Some sending volumes and advanced features depend on your plan, but connecting and using the core tools does not.
Do Mailchimp tokens expire?
No. Mailchimp issues a long-lived token and Modiva discovers your account's data center (for example us21) automatically, so there's no background refresh — the connection stays healthy until you disconnect.
How do I disconnect?
Open Connections, click the Mailchimp row and choose Disconnect — Modiva deletes the stored token immediately. You can also revoke Modiva from your Mailchimp account's connected-apps settings.
