The challenge

Teams that run commerce on Shopify rarely run only on Shopify. Keeping the store as the source of truth usually means:

• Products, orders and customers created in other tools never made it back into Shopify without manual copy-paste or brittle one-off scripts.
• Each new automation meant re-learning Shopify's OAuth, per-shop token handling and Admin API rate limits from scratch.

   One connection, not a custom integration

   The team connects Shopify to Modiva once through Shopify's own OAuth consent screen. Modiva stores the scoped offline token encrypted at rest — and because Shopify tokens don't expire, the connection stays healthy until the app is uninstalled, with no credentials in code and no cron job babysitting expiry.

   Products, orders & customers over a unified API

   Instead of writing against Shopify's Admin API directly, the team calls Modiva's unified products, orders and customers tools. The same request shape works across every store and channel Modiva supports, so adding the next system is a connection, not a rewrite.

   Store access for AI agents via MCP

   An MCP key exposes the same typed tools to AI assistants and internal agents. The team's agents can look up an order, adjust inventory, or create a discount code — with scopes the team controls and can revoke at any time.

The outcome
